TOPEKA | Kansans may soon have a new reason to switch to diet soda — a proposed tax on every last granule of sugary goodness in that can of pop. A legislative proposal that surfaced Tuesday would impose a penny tax per teaspoon of sugar in a beverage, including energy and sports drinks.
