Dutch researchers report that obese people are more likely to become depressed, and depressed people are more likely to become obese. Obesity hikes the risk of depression by 55-percent, while depression increases the risk of obesity by 58-percent. The findings are reported in the Archives of General Psychiatry. Permalink | Comments

Next time, maybe pass on the fries. The idea that obesity is detrimental to health is nothing new, but a recent study comparing its effects to those of smoking gives a tangible measure of just how detrimental it can be.
